The trip

Sterling had a business meeting in Sonoma California last week and Kevra and I joined him when it was over.  Sonoma is wine country, which is not something I am interested in, being a devout water drinker, but the area was really beautiful, grapes everywhere.  They were ending their meetings (they meet 2 times a year) so we joined the group for dinner.  It was in a wine cask, really beautiful setting and the dinner was yummo.
We are way at the other end of the table.
Here are some pictures of our hotel, it was a resort. The grounds were beautiful, lots of green and flowers. We checked out the next morning and wandered around town a litttle.

A lovely couple
Dad and Kevra, on her birthday
We headed to Santa Rosa to eat at Johnny Garlics, Guy Fieri's restaurant.  It was good too.  We ate at another place earilier that was on the list of Diners (Sterling loves that show)

We decided to take highway 1 down the coast to get to San Francisco.  It was pretty.....SCARY!  Yes, it was pretty, but those hairpin  turns and cliff drop offs, I can say I've done it and never want to do it again.  Kinda like Coronado trail from Alpine to Miami, only add a 200 foot drop off.  Yeah, you get the picutre.
Point Reyes, before the cliffs
This was our first view of the Golden Gate bridge. We never saw more then that, though we would cross it 2 more times the following day:  only fog.

Traffic was bad.

We went to Pier 39 that night and shopped for a few hours, had clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl and made it to our hotel.  Not quite the 5 star accomodations, but clean and quiet.

We took a tour bus on Saturday; one of those open top, double decker, where you could get on and off as you please.  It is a great way to see the city and learn about it too.  The traffic was horrible and it was nice to have someone else driving in it and not us trying to find a parking place.

That famous row of Victorians you see in the movies.

Gayle, our tour guide at Golden Gate Park (not the same place as the bridge, I found out)

Getting ready to cross, again.

Sterling, on the other side, in front of the Golden Gate bridge.  What, you don't see it?  Neither did we.

Ducks in the window in Chinatown.  We ate at this place.  Kevra said it was unsanitary. My wonton soup was delicious.

Street band in Chinatown, never heard one like this.

We rode, got off and walked at some of the stops, then waited for the next bus. We had a wonderful, exhausting day.  The weather was great, a little cool, but not cold.  Sunday we drove over the Bay Bridge to Oakland to see the temple.  It was really pretty.

We had a wonderful, quick trip.  I think Kevra enjoyed it and we were so happy she came with us.
