Sterling and I went to Redlands for a little get away last weekend. We flew and stayed in Ontario, but spent one day in Redlands. We went to the temple, which was lovely, of course. Redlands also has tons of beautiful old Victorian homes. We visited the Kimberly Crest home for a tour. It was home to the Kimberly family from the late 1890's to 1979 (think Kimberly-Clark paper, Huggies, money) It was very beautiful and interesting. Kevra said it looks like a princess house (the picture). We hit the old library (the architecture was amazing) then drove up to Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernadino Mtns, very nice, and cold. The road, a little windy.

Sunday we spent in Ontario. We ate breakfast out side at this neat place in Upland, about 4 miles away. Went to the mills mall, like ours, and wandered around. I'm not really a shopper anymore and it was pretty much the same as ours. We went to the Olive House where they pick and can their own olives and are very picky about it. The machines they use are original, from the 1930's. The tour lady was a hoot, probably 80 years old. I was tired of eating out and ready for home when Monday rolled around, but it was all in all a wonderful weekend. So, the next time you are headed to Disneyland and you are driving past the sign on the freeway that says Redlands, stop in, you will enjoy it.

Holy cow--that house looks amazing! We'll definitely have to stop by there next time.
Redlands is so close to where Mike's family lives. It is a beautiful little town. We drove around and looked at houses last time we were in California, and of course, we love the temple there. What a fun little weekend.
What a nice getaway! Can't wait til we can leave the kids for a weekend here and there!
I love those old Victorian homes. sigh. someday.
I think we just simultaneously commented on eachother's blogs. That's a first for me :)
Looks like a perfect little getaway with fun things to see around the town. Fun! That picture does look a lot like a princess house.
